What inspired you to pursue a degree in Science?
I like the thought that there is a science to everything we see and do. Many aspects of our daily lives such as our morning routines and how we communicate are understood to follow scientific processes. Learning these processes and finding explanations for certain phenomena has led to many discoveries and improved our lives. I pursued this degree because I wanted to have the foundation to learn about the world in this way. I always had the plan to go far in my education, so I felt that this degree was a proper starting point. Also, whenever I learn something new, I have the opportunity to share that knowledge with others, even if it's just a fun fact. Asking someone, "Did you know...?" is a great conversation starter!

After graduating from Coppin, I earned a Masters in Biomedical Science at Wake Forest University.
What are you doing now in your career?
I am currently working as a surgical technician for Anne Arundel Dermatology, and I recently had a paper published In Chemical Physics Impact based on research I conducted while at Coppin. I hope to pursue further medical education and research endeavors.
How has your education at Coppin Department of Natural Sciences prepared you for your career?
My education at Coppin in the Department of Natural Sciences has shown me first the value of patience. Getting a degree, pursing higher education, and conducting research are not things you can do in one day. It takes determination to get up everyday and keep up the work, even when the end is months or even years away. Coppin has taught me to not only be proud of the end results, but to take pride in the daily work, in simply showing up. I also got better at working independently and collaboratively, which as are skills that everyone needs no matter what field they are in. My education at Coppin prepared me for a Masters degree, and I feel prepared to take my education even further.
