BALTIMORE - This week, the heart of Baltimore shines a little brighter as Coppin State University celebrates 125 years of excellence, empowerment, and community transformation. In honor of this historic milestone, several of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Baltimore City Hall, the Ravens Warehouse, and the Orioles Warehouse, will be illuminated in Coppin blue and gold, turning the skyline into a glowing tribute to one of Maryland’s most impactful institutions.

From April 21–25, Baltimore residents and visitors alike will witness a city lit with pride, reflecting Coppin’s unwavering commitment to education, opportunity, and service. The illuminations lead up to Coppin State’s anniversary event held on April 24 at the M&T Bank Exchange. This momentous occasion will honor the university’s past, celebrate the present, and spark a bold vision for the future, one rooted in student achievement, innovation, and community advancement.

“For 125 years, Coppin has been more than a university, it has been a beacon of hope, strength, and transformation for Baltimore and beyond,” said President Anthony L. Jenkins. “As we light up the city this week, we honor the generations who made this possible and invest in the futures still to come. A special thanks to the city that has embraced the hometown university.”

The week also marks the public launch of Coppin’s largest-ever capital campaign, BE MORE, with a $25 million goal to expand student success, research, athletics, and long-term sustainability.

From training Maryland’s top Black educators and healthcare leaders to revitalizing urban communities, Coppin State University continues to shine as a powerful force for good. This week, Baltimore lights the way forward, together.
