The Three Labor Market Struggles Facing Black America
Presented by Dr. Algernon Austin, Director of Race and Economic Justice at the Center for Economic and Policy Research
Dr. Austin will focus on the intersection of race and the economy, particularly the three major challenges faced by African Americans in the labor market such as:
- A significantly low employment rate
- A disproportionate number of individuals are employed in low-quality jobs
- An uneven distribution across various occupations.
Policymakers and advocates need to distinguish these three problems since they require different solutions. The discussion will present the solutions to these three problems in order that we can create a more just and equitable society.
