All registered undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours, including off campus students taking Internet courses are automatically enrolled into The Student Health Insurance Plan at registration. The premium cost ($989.00 per semester) will be posted to your bill.

Waive or Enroll Now!

Health Insurance Fee Waiver

All registered undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours covered by other comparable health insurance, may decline the Coppin State University student health insurance by completing an Online Waiver form in the Fall 2024 beginning August 15, 2024 and Spring 2025 beginning November 15, 2024. For your waiver request to be considered, you must complete this form by the waiver deadline of September 21, 2024 for Fall 2024 semester and February 2, 2025 for Spring 2025 semester. If you are experiencing a problem with the waiver site, call (410) 951-4188, prior to the deadline date. Once the waiver request is reviewed, students will be notified via email whether their waiver request has been approved or denied. Print the email and keep as waiver proof for your records. Waivers will not be accepted after the deadline. If you do not waive out of the health insurance by the deadline date, the premium cost ($989 per semester) for this plan will remain, non-refundable on your tuition bill.

International Students

International students will be automatically and remain enrolled into the University insurance coverage.

Dependents

All graduate and undergraduate students with dependents may elect to purchase this plan on a voluntary basis on the Online Enrollment page.

Again, the online waiver request must be received and approved by September 21, 2024 for Fall 2024 semester and February 2, 2025 for Spring 2025 semester or the premium will remain, non-refundable on the tuition bill.

You must complete a waiver for each semester, spring and fall.

Students with limited out of area coverage or otherwise inadequate coverage are urged to carefully review their insurance options before applying to waive the university's sponsored student insurance plan.

Adequate health insurance coverage is defined as medical insurance benefits that provide:

  • Both in-patient hospitalization and out-patient primary care in the Baltimore area. This includes doctor visits, specialist, radiology, and laboratory services. An out of state HMO may not provide benefits unless it is a true medical emergency; and
  • Coverage in force throughout the academic year when attending Coppin State University.

We encourage you to visit the Community Health Center located on the campus for health services because there are no co-pays required.
