New Student Orientation
What is New Student Orientation?
New Student Orientation (NSO) prepares new and transfer students for your collegiate experience at Coppin State University. Consider NSO your starting point. New Student Orientation works to acquaint new and transfer students to campus, services, and information that prepares you for a successful school year. For all incoming students, you must register and attend the mandatory New Student Orientation.
First-Time, First Year Students
During the one-day orientation event you’ll be able to meet other new students, review/adjust your schedule for the semester of classes, handle other business items and learn about all the resources available to help make your Coppin experience the greatest possible.
In the event you no longer wish to attend Coppin State University, it is imperative that you inform the University in writing as soon as possible, no later than August 1, 2024. Email the Office of Admissions (admissions@coppin.edu) and the Office of Records & Registration (registrar@coppin.edu) to initiate your disenrollment.
Transfer Students
Once you receive your transfer credit evaluation and your credits are posted in EagleLINKS you are ready to seek advisement and register for the spring 2025 semester! You can schedule your advisement appointment here, however before meeting with your advisor, your transfer credit evaluation should be received and your credits must be posted in EagleLINKS.
Registration for spring 2025 classes opens October 30, 2024, for more details visit, coppin.edu/register. To view course offerings, click on "Schedule of Classes" on the EagleLINKS homepage.
F-1 International Students
International students, on condition you have been granted admissions you must satisfy requirements for issuance of an I-20 with the Office of Admissions to prepare for entry to school. Questions? Contact AMonier@coppin.edu.
Once you obtain your F-1 Visa, upon U.S. arrival within the assigned window of your semester start date, you must contact our International Student Services Program (ISSP) before you may proceed to register for classes. The ISSP is here to help you transition to the Coppin family. Email CTyree@coppin.edu to confirm requirements, status and next steps.

Register for Orientation
New students are required to participate in one in-person new student orientation as well as complete the online orientation modules. The date(s) for our in-person orientations are below. Pre-Orientation Online Modules must be completed prior to your in-person New Student Orientation session. You can access the online Orientation platform here. You must first activate your EagleLINKS account by setting your password.

As a new student, you probably have a few questions. We’re here to help!
Yes, in-person orientation is required for our first time students including transfer students. Orientation serves as an opportunity for student engagement and the completion of any business items directly related to a successful enrollment.
No, you do not stay on campus during your NSO Orientation date.
A limited number of parents/guardians (2) can also attend. We know that starting college is often a family event. Orientation is a space for adult loved ones to share in the student experience, ask questions, and build a lasting connection to Coppin State University.
We discourage small children from attending. Orientation is for college students and their adult loved ones.
No, you don't need to pay tuition and fees to attend Orientation. Any student who has been accepted and has confirmed their intent to enroll can attend. The University does not require payment of tuition and fees until a student has registered for classes.
There is no charge to attend New Student Orientation. Keep in mind, you may have other related expenses for travel and lodging regarding your trip to attend. Or you may wish to make deposits on other educational expenses for the school year (e.g.: enrollment fee, parking permit, housing deposit, etc.).
You may meet with several different staff and faculty during New Student Orientation, but there is no guarantee you will meet with your specific advisor.
Please plan to arrive between 8:15AM and 8:50AM, New Student Orientation programming begins at 9:00AM.
There are no parking fees during New Student Orientation. You will park in Lot F in front of Talon Center. Our shuttle service will take you to the JW Johnson Auditorium or you can take a short walk led by a New Student Orientation Leader.
Yes, you will meet other members of the incoming class. Look forward to connecting with at least 2-3 of your classmates.
