Biography

As Associate Vice President for Student Development and Achievement, Dr. James G. Stewart focuses on strengthening retention and persistence efforts for Coppin State University and leading the Eagle Achievement Center (EAC). Dr. Stewart has 19 years of higher education professional experience with expertise in student success. Dr. Stewart previously served as director of academic continuity and engagement (ACE) and the Office of Veteran Affairs at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Stewart also served as director of adult, veteran, and commuter student affairs at DePaul. He previously held positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Knox College, in Galesburg, IL.

Dr. Stewart has written, published, and presented on topics such as retention, students with children, commuter students, generational differences, and data-informed practices.
