We are currently working on one of our biggest projects ever. Revitalization of the Rosemont/Coppin Heights Community is of our highest priority. With the support of Coppin State University it is our goal to bring to the west-side neighborhoods, economic, educational and social changes.
Acquisition of Community Development Block Grants (CDBGs) to renovate buildings that now houses the administrative offices of CHCDC, the Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS), and the Consumer Credit Counseling Services of CSU;
Acquisition of HUD and state funds to renovate the building that houses the CSU Nursing Center, a community-based health clinic;
Established the Coppin/Rosemont initiative, which included the initial adoption and now management of the Rosemont Elementary School;
Acquired a state-approved 10 year Capital Improvement Project to expand the CSU campus;
Acquisition of HUD funds to improve the affordable housing stock for low-income residents in the community;
Acquisition of the former Lutheran Hospital, for demolition and revitalization, to remove the blight and safety concerns raised by community residents and the Baltimore City Housing Inspection Office.
